This bilingual thematic dictionary presents more than 2,500 proverbs, pictorial expressions and common phrases in Persian. These language productions have been taken from certain dictionaries of Persian expressions and proverbs, but also encountered in various texts of literary prose as well as in daily oral and written communication of Persian. The method of classification chosen: by the terms addressed in proverbs and expressions in their literal sense - natural elements and the universe, fruits, plants, animals, human being, family, money, religion, etc. - enabled them to be grouped into sixteen main areas which cover the essentials of daily life. A thematic index containing notions such as: friendship, love, greed, hypocrisy, etc., offers the reader the means of orienting his research in the direction which suits him best. Conveyed by both literary and familiar language, the corpus that this work gives to know highlights the expressive richness, originality and subtlety of Persian culture. It provides the speaker with a wealth of ready-made metaphors, images and thoughts that will allow them to acquire an intimate knowledge of the language and approach communication with a feeling of greater freedom.
