Born in 1955, Fang Fang is one of the great contemporary Chinese writers. She is one of the main initiators of the neorealist movement that marked Chinese literature from the 1980s, notably with the publication of Une vue splendide in 1987 (Philippe Picquier, 1995, Picquier Poche, 2003). She describes in her works the misery of the urban proletariat in China of the economic miracle - misery she has known well - through often tragic fates, but in a cold tone where pierces sometimes an equally cold note of humor. In recent years she has developed a reflection on the past and history where she often addresses political movements rarely treated because sensitive subjects.
